Hello , my name is Diana Martinez, I am a junior and as of now I am a Sun Devil. I eat, sleep, and breath ASU. I am a full time student with a job on campus. I work at the First Year Success Center as a Desk Assistant. My intention is to eventually become a Blood Bank Technologists, that is after some time in a Medical Laboratory field.
What initially got me integrated with clinical laboratory science was the thought-provoking norm as to how a small sample of DNA could reveal decades of history of a person. So when I discovered the Applied Sciences: Medical Laboratory program, I know that I had found the program that I was meant to be in. I was so excited, that I emailed Regina Leger, Director, Specialist in Blood Banking Program Lead Technologist, asking if she could give any insight into about my desired field. Thankfully she responded and gave me the encouragement to pursue my career ambitions. Since then I have considered the MDL program in detail and found that it offers the opportunity to analyze bodily liquids that can provide information necessary for diagnosis. The program fully prepares one to enter the medical technology field.
From there I plan on working in the Medical Laboratory Field for some time before going back for my Masters in Science for Blood Bank Technology. Although I may not see much outside of a lab I do intend on working with nonprofit organizations that help improve the medical standings in different countries, such as Project C.U.R.E.
